Hello everyone,
I'm writing my Master-Thesis about Revit server (2012). I'm running a small local network based on Windows Server 2008 R2.
Now the chair I'm writing at is interessted in setting up a new lecture about the Revit Server, but they are running their Servers on Linux. Is it also possible to run Revit Server on Linux (Debian/Ubuntu) or is WinServer 2008 necessary?
Thank you,
regards
Fabian

As far as I know, RS 2012 is approved by Autodesk to run on Windows Server 2008 64 bit R2.

DarrenP,
I'd really like to know more about the possibillity of using a Linux server for Revit Server.
You stated below that Win Server 2008 R2 is necessary. May I ask what is your basis for this statement?
Have you specifically tried Linux for Revit Server?
Or, are you just assuming it is necessary because Autodesk says it is?
Are you an Autodesk employee/programmer? I'm just asking to be certain.
The cost and complexity of owning and operating Win Server 2008 R2 can make it prohibitive for a lot of folks.
