Revit 2013 having Panel Buttons issues on Windows 8

I am terribly worried because since I upgraded to Windows 8, Revit 2013 is no displaying the User interface in a correct manner. Many icons/commands are hidden and for example I want to edit a floor, click on it and the Edit boundary doesnt show up unless minimize the panel buttons but it doesnt show up in the expanded panel. Then, once you do it, the red cross and green check mark dont display either. You have to again look on the minimized panel buttons.

Then you finally find where the Edit bounday icon is, click on it, and the option for choosing the boundary lines dont show up and have to expand the panel button.

It's been months since Windows 8 is out and Autodesk didn't update Revit to work properly under this new OS?

Weird thing is that Revit 2011 seems to not have issues running on Windows 8.

Did you install service pack 2, which fixes the contextual tabs issue in Revit 2013 running on Win8?

Yes, I just did and it seems it fixed the ribbon problem. I was also having crashes on Revit 2013 very often and then my renderings were not looking as good as before. I hope the update fixes it all.

I was also having performace display issues because of not recognizing my video card onmy HP Pavilion dv7 laptop from 2012. By disabling the video acceleration, it was fixed. In any case that doesnt happen on earlier Revits.

I am having the same interface problems.  What is this service pack 2 you refer to, is it a Windows update, or and update to Revit?  Where can I find it?  These UI issues are making Revit unusable.

It is a Revit update needed.  You can find updates here:

I could not get these updates to work for some reason.  When I tried to install them, it merely gave me an error message saying the allied product was not found.  However, I also received an email from education community support which gave me a different link: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=20679039&linkID=16831210  This update seems to work.

Check if you have Microsoft .NET 4.5 installed. If so, uninstall it and install .NET 4.0. That should solve the panel issue. It worked for me at least.

Hi, I have the same problem, I just got a new PC with Windows 8, and installed the student version. many of the icons dont show up in the Ribon. I tried to install the update you mention but I get an installation error that said "The Update could not be installed because product could not be located on your computer, Make sure that you are using the correct Update Release for the product."

this is the update I am using:

That is the correct update EXCEPT this is the update for the commercial version.  You need the update for the educational version.  I assume that is somewhere on the education website where the different educational versions of the software can be loaded.  I would logon there and see if there is an update, or you can install Revit 2014.
