Revit 2010 Fails to Install

I have a workstation that Revit 2010 was installed on but it kept crashing. So we uninstalled Revit 2010 and tried to reinstall. Now on reinstall it errors out mid-way thru with the error (screenshot attached also):

1: 5 2: Failed to load FNP_ACT_Installer.dll. 3: 126

I have tried several times to re-install. I've rebooted, deleted the original Revit 2010 folder, and everything else I can think of. All to no success.

How do I resolve this issue?

Thanks.

Try using the Windows Installer Clean Up tool.
There may be a part of the program 'stuck' and causing it to fail.

You can't think AutoCAD and run Revit.

I tried the Windows Installer Cleanup Tool, but didn't see any problem setups. There is no evidence of Revit 2010 showing up in the tool to clear out. This weekend I tried to install from the downloaded setup but had the same problem. Lastly, I tried to make a network install to install from and received the same error.

At this point the user is having to work on someone else's computer since we can't get Revit 2010 to install. Any other ideas before we need to format this system and reinstall everything?

Had some help from Autodesk Support. Here is the solution...

Extract the file in the zip file to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdLM\R1

The installer will look there and use the updated version. The problem has to do with a conflict between AutoCAD and Revit installers.

Surely I cant be the only one that this didn't work for. Between the Design Review 2010 having a beta version of dwg trueview 2010 & this we have spent a ton of support time with autodesk. Guess I need to open another ticket....
anyone else have a suggestion? I have looked thru everything for FNP_Actwhatever.dll & it still barfs.

I just had the same problem. I copied the "FNP_Act_Installer.dll" file from my computer to the computer that fails to install and it worked. Give it a shot.

Were now getting this error following installation of Robot 2010. Some of the Revits seem to be fixabale by unistalling adding the DLL to the correct folder and reinstalling Revit. However i also have a number of machines that replacing the DLL will not clear the issue.

The attached file is probably 32bit and didn't work with my 64bit install.

Check the following autodesk link to get the appropriate file for your system. It worked for me.

I was directed to look at this forum.  I am trying to install AutoCAD 2010 but during the installation process, after I get about half way thru, I get the error specfied in the Revit discussion.  And I downloaded the file it talked about.  But when I try to run it, Windows asks me what program will be needed to run this "fix it" program.  Does this fix it work for AutoCAD 2010 as well as Revit?  I am still down with no ACAD to work with.  I know this is a free program for professionals that are un-employed but I still can't do anything?  Help me? Am I in the wrong forum?  All I want to do is install the program that I took 3 hours downloading and run it. Thanks very much.

Hi William,

This is an older thread that started before the Installation & Licensing forum was set up - I would suggest reposting your message in that forum : http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Installation-Licensing/bd-p/24.
