Aside from being completelly baffled by the new 'Asset Editor' arrangements in 2013, I have just realised that my Manage Tab>Additional Settings drop down> Asset Editor button has disappeared.  I am certain it was there before as I have used it and WikiHelp (http://wikihelp.autodesk.com/Revit/enu/2013/Help/00001-Revit_He0/3032-Customiz3032/3042-Project_3042...) says so.  Whilst I have done a repair on my instalation, it is still absent. See the partial sreen print.

Have just realised that the Asset Editor (Material Assets) only appears in the Project Editing environment!  I have no idea why since most material assets are integral with components, not projects?  Sorry to have made a redundant post!
