Issues with grid!
I’m really struggling with the issues below pertaining to the gird
- I couldn’t know how to change the properties of the grid family. For example, I wanted to change the circle size (radius) and the size of its text. How this might be performed?
- Restart numbering (numbers and letters) of the grid. Sometimes we add/remove particular grid lines and this requires the other to be corrected accordingly
- I’m not sure about the best practices in Revit to “draw” center lines for given columns.
- Are we supposed to extend the lines of grid manually or there is a way to extend them automatically to a particular line?
Thank you for the help,
Best

Okay - one at a time:
1: Grids are part of a system family - you are not able to just edit it. You will need to open the family Grid Head - Circle and edit it to what you would like it to be. (first image below.) then you will need to re-load it into your project. Once loaded you can select an existing grid and get into the type properties and then specify the grid head family you just reloaded. (second image below)
2: Renumbering - you will have to do this manually - there is no automation unless you put them all in again.
3: Not sure what you mean about "I’m not sure about the best practices in Revit to “draw” center lines for given columns." Can you give more information?
4: Extending the grid lines - if the ends of your grids are lined up - then you can select one and all will move with it. If they are not lined up - then you will need to move them manually.
Just a note for future reference - could you post your questions one at a time? It makes it easier for people to answer. Just a suggestion!

Many thanks for the elaboration.
Indeed, my inquiries was about the best practices for the workflow of setting the center lines for the columns. From your informative answers, I could guess that most of the work is needed to be done manually.
1) In my file, the name is “M_Grid Head – Circle” but not “Grid Head – Circle” while in the hard drive I could find the file “Grid Head - Circle.rfa” while the “M_Grid Head – Circle” is not there! Thus, changing the “Grid Head - Circle.rfa” doesn’t affect the size of circle!
2) For example, if you are given the column below and you are required to “draw” center lines for them, then which workflow you follow? Is there more efficient way than the regular one (which is to draw center line for each column one by one but not all at a time)?
I’ll try to follow your suggestion

I am working out of the Imperial library - you are in the metric.
Once you modify the one you are actually using in the metric library and load it into your project it should update.
You would need to manually need to create the grid lines from the columns you are given.

Try my renumbering tool to renumber grids. It can renumber grids, doors, views....just about anything.

Many thanks James for the answer.
This tool sounds to be promising! Should be built in the core of the REVIT
