I received 3 revit files: one is building skin, one is interior, one is the combination of the 2 linked revit files.

Both of the building skin and interior revit files have different insertion point because when I copy one element from one file and paste it to the other file, it doesn't align.  But the third revit file that has these files linked in it shows them aligned, how is this possilbe?

I know it's not a good practice, but what if I want to relocate the whole thing in one to align with the other file so that it will have the same insertion point (coordinate), what's the best way to do it?
 

I don't think you can do this while you are in 3d view, is that correct?

It sounds like the coordinate systems of the files are different (this would explain why the element you pasted didn't align as expected).

To ensure different files will line up when linked, you can use shared coordinates.

Shared coordinates can be a complex topic. If you are not familiar with topic, I would suggest reviewing general information about shared coordinates, and then see if you can setup shared coordinates between the files.
