Can somebody answer a couple of questions about Ecotect?

I'm currently a 3D artist using 3DS Max but a few clients have asked if I can do sun path analysis for them. I looked at Ecotect but it's not very clear how it works, so I had a couple of questions if anyone can answer them for me.

It's mentioned as an addition to the Revit BIM world so is it a Revit plug in or a stand alone piece of software? If it's a plug in, is it Autocad compatible? (I'm on autocad 2010, I don't have Revit).

If it's a stand alone piece of software can I model in 3DS Max and import?

    Any help is appreciated.

The sun study feature is part of Revit - not an add in. I do not beleive AutoCAD has this feature.

You can model in 3ds max and inport it into Revit.

You can try a 30day trial of revit and see how it works.

You can't think AutoCAD and run Revit.

OK so Ecotect is really just there to analyse the output of the tools that are in revit then?  That's OK, didn't want to buy it and find it did nothing for me.

    Thanks for the reply.
