Source Code for View Setting in Revit

How and where do you identify VIA source code where the settings are for Visability when exporting?

For example, how does Revit know what is visible when exporting to Navisworks?  And where do I find the code for that.  

Is there any way to identify the source code for the view settings in Revit API that IDs what's turned off or on?

If this is possible can you share the code?
