The compare sheets function is designed to allow you to compare sheets with one another. It will run faster if one is located outside the file.
For your projects, I am unsure what you are comparing. I compare your floor plan to your floor plan and there are no differences because there appear to be no differences. If you are comparing an elevation view to an elevation view with simply hidden elements, I think QTO is still seeing the hidden elements and not identifying these as changes. If you deleted geometry, I would expect different results.
In order for this process to work the sheets first need to have geometric information in them. They need to be published in such a way where there is smart data behind the sheets. If you scanned two paper documents to PDF and tried to compare them in QTO, there would be no information for QTO to compare.
You need to have your files published in such a way where there is takeoff data present.
When you are in Revit:
1.) Click the Revit button > Export > DWF/DWFX
2.) On the view sheet tab, select the applicable sheets
3.) On the DWF properties tab check "Element Properties" and "Use standard format"
4.) Click "Next" and enter a path and filename for the export.
I have included some sample files here for you to test this, if interested.
1.) Open a new QTO project
2.) Add File 1. dwf sheet to your project. This model is simply a wall in the shape of the number “1”
3.) in the document pane select the sheet for file 1
4.) Click the “Compare” button on the document palette
5.) Select File 2 and the main sheet for comparison. This model is simply a wall in the shape of the number “2”
6.) Click "OK" and the differences should display, both “1” and “2”. A new sheet view will display beneath the main sheet in the document pane.
