A book on ARX, would it still have a market?

I've become a registered Autodesk developer (again)  to write a book on programming Inventor. But I notice that the ARX group is still active. Would a new version of my ARX book and course still have a market as well?

Gary, the problem is that many or most of those people will not read a book either (especially if they have to pay for it).

It will take some time but I'll try and put together a list of the ARX and related programming library I have. This will not include say VBA for AutoCad programming and the like but ARX and related subjects.

There is an icon on my desktop that says "roarx". Who knows what that means?

Yes, was just checking to see if was relevant for some of the acad clones that are still using ads. Loaded it and then found this thread.

There has been a tremendous sound of silence in this thread, I expected someone, anyone to jump in with prerequisites for ARX programming. It is not what you learn C++ on, you have to know it before you reach this level, along with windows programming. ARX is for serious programmers, the cad manager learning arx and C++ at the same time can do a lot of damage unintentionally.

The problem is that a book takes time, and currently I'm concentrating on Inventor programming in C++.

While I think it is necessary like you I think the market is way to small to justify all the work on your own. It would be in AutoDesk's best interests to pay you or someone else to write it and publish it. With the profits from forcing everyone to subscription that would be a drop in the ocean for them.

Around 2000 I believe there was an AutoDesk press that put out a few books.

Myself, in addition to a book by you I would love to see TT publish a Professional OblectARX and C++ book full of his knowledge. Whether he has the time or interest could be another matter.

There is a book by Charles McAuley for ObjectARX 2000. That might be very old, but, it demonstrates major feature of ObjectARX programmin in great depth.
