Grouping clahses between two types of elements

I know how to group clashes that happen all to one element, or one type of element as you move up the tree.  What I would like to do, however, is choose elements in both trees, and create the group from there.

In my case, for example, I would like to group all of the clashes between the concrete columns and beams and the rain water leaders (vertical roof drain pipes).

Is there a way to do this easily?  I realize I can choose to only clash those items, but I need to have just one large report with everything in it.

    Hi rsloyer

If I understand correctly, you wish to group results only if they involve both an element of type 1 and type 2.   The issue is that if you use filter by selection and select both types in the Selection Tree, it just adds both sets of results together, and if you try to use Group clashes involving Items, it will just move the results back and forth between the grouping of type 1 and of type 2.

I believe you should be able to group by one type, use the filter by selection tool to find the results that involve the other type 2, and the elements in the group will then only be the ones that involve both.  You can remove them and place them in a new group.

    Please try the following :

    1. Use the group clashes involving item or select filter by selection filter to create a group for results involving Type 1 as you normally would.

    2. In the results tab of clash detective, click the Filter by Selection button.

    3. In the selection tree, select the category for Type 2.

This will limit all results to only those that include an element of type 2 in the results tab.  You’ll still see the grouping of results that involve items of type 1. Therefore, the results under that group only involve type 1 and type 2 items.

    4. Multi-select those results in the group, right-click them and select remove from group.  It will remove them from the group, leaving them selected and allow you to them group them into a group for type 1 and type 2.

Please let me know if this works.
