Can't view C3D surface in Navisworks 2012

For the life of me I can't view the C3D 2013 (saved as a 2010 file) surface in my Navisworks 2012 (OE's installed).
See the pdf attached.
All I get is an empty box with the same dimensions as my surface.
I've been able to view these before if I explode the TIN surface but I don't like that option.
Any help would be very appreciated!

Not sure if thats possible. While you may save down to an earlier DWG format, the Civil3D vertical content is still 2013 format that will never down-convert (can't down-convert a project to work on in an earlier version of Civil3D, for example). The only other thing I can think of is ensure the DWG Reader version is set properly in Options.
If you are going to fly by the seat of your pants, expect friction burns.
Adopt. Adapt. Overcome. Or be overcome.

That's my conclusion today too.
Autodesk support has been looking at this for 3 weeks and hasn't figured it out, atleast if I understand their writing correctly...
Getting 2013 today!
thanks
