Can someone help with this probably basic question
but I cant find an answer in Help.
I draw a part say (part-a) and generate an idw of it.
then I need to make a different part based on it (part-B)
so I Save Copy As... : (part-a) as (part-B) open (part-B) and do my mods.
How do I create a copy of the IDW file that will point to Part-B and not Part-A ?

Do not start with save copy as. Open a.idw in DA. Now copy and rename a.idw and a.ipt to b.idw and b.ipt in DA.

To save the ones you have done a copy save as on, do a copy save as on the idw. Now rename part a.ipt to part ax.ipt.
Open b.idw. IV6 will ask you to find a.ipt. point to b.ipt. now rename ax.ipt to a.ipt.

Brilliant Thanks
My dealer told me a horrid long method too boring to repeat
and it didn't really work. Love the method that fools IV into asking for a new one.

If you are scared of DA, try this.
Hide (part-a) by temporarily renaming it, X(part-a) or
something like that.
something like that.
Then open your IDW and when it says it cant find the file
(part-a) you select (part-B).
(part-a) you select (part-B).
Save your IDW as IDW-B or whatever.
Rename X(part-a) back to (part-a).
