just had a crash in an assy dwg and when i turned inventor back on and went
to open my assy back up, there was an extra assy in my workspace with the
same name except it has .newVer after the name... I was in the middle of a
save when it crashed.... whats the deal with this file?

Open them they may be more up to date than the original file. You may be able to save some of your work. If you like them delete the original file and rename the new file.
