I have a part which has 2 solid bodies in it which were created using the extrude command. When setting the iProperties for this part I get the material properties applied to both solids. Is it possible to set a material for each solid so that they will be listed separately under iProps ? I suspect this can't be done in which case how would I go about separating the solid bodies ? Thanks

the only solution for this is create two different parts with different materials, open one more part and use derive option to bring both the solids to one single part file...
but u should be very carefull while u create those two parts as it comes and sits at the origin when you derive the parts...

Hi Anthony,
You can go to the Manage tab in the part and use the Make Components button to write each solid out as an individual derived part. This tool will also place the new parts in an assembly file in the same space and relationship they reside in the original part file. Then you can control the material for each independently.
I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
