    constraint question

I am drawing an assembly of a spring loaded ball plunger.
When I insert the ball into the housing, what type of constraint should I use to ensure the ball protrudes .048"
    from the housing.
    Please use plain text.

You'll need to use some workplanes on the ball and
the socket.  Then use mate-mate on the ball and socket's workplanes.
(You can even get fancy then make them adaptive to have the ball retract when
    necessary <g>)

OK. Got it. One more constraint question:
How do I constain 4 slotted holes to 4 shafts and centered on the slotted hole?
    Thanks Bill

Make two workplanes bisecting each slot in each
direction.  Now put a axis through the planes (it's now perp to your
surface).  Now mate-mate the axis to the shafts.

When I draw the slot I usually have some type of point in the center of the sketch I extruded. A workpoint or the end of a construction line. After I extrude the slot I turn the sketch visibility on and create a work axis by selecting the sketch plane and then my center of the slot (the 2D sketch point). I then turn the sketch visibility off. - Rich Thomas
