We have a Samsung series 7 slate running windows 8. The windows tablet was bought as an alternative to trying to convert all of our software to android to carry out surveys.
This has landed on my desk to explorey the possibility of running inventor on it as an emegency or travelling copy. The installation completes but it only installs sketchbook designer and fails on the rest of the product design suite. The system specs are below, ( i ran inventor 2011 on a lot worse) is it the specs or is it simply windows 8?

I would just assume the graphics chipset / drivers are something the IV installer aren't familiar with. Or maybe a .Net versioning issue?
thanks for the reply, it installed some .net components before it tried to install inventor.
the graphics is intel hd graphics 3000 which should be ok, I cant find much info
So if this tablet was running Win 7, would IV install okay? Good way to rule out the hardware at least.
I just meant I was curious if the new Samsung tablet hardware running non-beta Windows 7 would allow the IV install. I don't think I being very helpful, though.
its probably a .net issue
windows 8 comes with a newer version of .net
you may have to modify the .ini file

4.5 it seems.

correct, its falling over trying to install .net 4
compatability mode doesnt work and I cant see a way to downgrade to .net 4
I can install mudbox from the usb key without going thru the setup program but that requires an ATI or nvidia card to run. Inventor doesnt let me install it vwithout going thru the setup program
your going to have to modify the .ini to remove all the .net references:
he did it for autocad 2012
