Excited to hear that it should be released soon. Before installing 2013, shall I uninstall everything related to 2012? What is the best way to do so?

Export things such as your "Styles" and user settings. Make a back-up DVD of all IPT, IAM, IDW and IPN files and Templates (prior to migrating files to IV2013). Use the Quick Install Tool for Autodesk Inventor Suite to remove Inventor.
I do a reboot, use a Registry clean-up tool to clean up the Windows Registry, another reboot and I am ready to install the new version.
Make sure you are logging in with Administrator privileges, UAC is turning off and you have disabled your Anti-Virus software. Check that your system meets all the requirements and is current on the latest Windows SP's and Hot-Fixes.
You should be ready to install the latest version of Inventor. That's my upgrade procedure, I'm others have different plans.

On a side note, I can see that you apparently outstrip my CPU and main RAM,
but I was wondering how well the Nvidia GTX 580 is working for you.
Obviously, it is marketed as a gaming card, while my Quadro 2000 is promoted for workstations,
but the specs at Nvidia's website are impressive.
My shopping results show the 580 running about $100 more, but if the performance comes through I think it would be worth it. Hence my curiosity.

works perfect, I work on some quite large assemblies, mainly ship structure so no real complex parts but a lot of them, It never degrades shading or jumps etc but i dont suppose i really test it that much.
The idea when we upgrade workstations is to get the best availiable at a reasnable price and the GTX 580 fitted

I hear you! Our IT head thinks similarly, hence the Quadro 2000. I have to admit it is better than the Quadro FX 380 in my earlier machine, which could barely cope with IV 2010 assemblies, let alone anything newer. Thanks for the feedback, I'll use it as ammo for the next upgrade meeting.
