I used to use Rev 9-11 in Inventor now it is 2009 or 2011. What is the difference in Revision styles that Autodesk is doing.
Thanks

Autodesk marketing changed naming conventions along the way.
R1,R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R10, R11, 2008 (is R12), 2009 (is R13), 2010 (is R14), 2011 (is R15)

With the debacle that autodesk had with ACad 13, I believe that none of their products will ever have a version 13. So I think that is why they picked that version to switch over to a date label over the numbered label.

Actually, that's about the time when they went to a yearly release cycle for Inventor, and changed over to naming by the year, as AutoCAD was already doing. But I gotta say, the R13 thing makes a much better story, so let's stick with that one!

You forgot R5.3, which is when they introduced Shape Manager as the new kernal, or was that R6?

As I recall, they wanted consistent naming so all Autodesk products that an annual release cycle switched the fiscal year designation so they would have consistent naming for all products. It may or may not have been a coincidence that R13 was an upcoming Inventor release.
5.3 was an interim release because there was some high demand functionality that didn't fit into the R5 release cycle. I'm pretty sure ASM was in R6.
I'm digging pretty deep into my memory archives, so I can't guarantee that any of this information is correct.
