    Unolding a fold?

All I'm doing is scetching a rectangle, creating a face, scetching a line and creating a fold. Why won't it unfold?

    Select a face first.
You are doing too much work though. A countoured flange would be much easier to get the same results.

You could just sketch the open profile, then do a contour flange, I'm sure that would work in v11.

    Alternatively,

To fix your model (this worked for me in 2010) follow these steps

    1. Delete the flat pattern
    2. Move the "End of Folded" marker to just below "Fold 1"
    3. Highlight the large flat surface
    4. Click flat pattern (it should flatten)
    5. Click back to the folded part
    6. Move the "End of Folded" marker to just below "Fold 2"
    7. Then click flat pattern again

That is what worked for me, I know they have overhauled the sheet metal module since v11 so it may not work for you.

I tried a contured flange and when I tried to flat patter I got, errors ocurred during update. Could not build asmflatpattern. No base plane found.

What did you mean by select the face first?

I got it, thanks. But why with this feature/part do you have to select the face first?

Inventor needs a fixed face as a base point for all the flattening and folding, sometimes, when it isn't and obvious face then you have to tell inventor which face is the base.

    If that makes any sense.

I guess it could just ask you to pick a face every time like some other programs...
