    Unable to split body partially

Wonder if there is a way to split the body at the central region only and not across the whole length.  Like to split the solid into 7 solids along the v-grooves.

    Using IV2012.

Try sketching a boundary around a desired solid instead of single line.

But this is not how I would do the part (assembly).

I would model in final postion as multi-body solid and avoid all those Splits and Move Bodies.

More of a 3D thinking process and less work.

JD, good solution as it solve my problem.

I too like to share the thought of why it is modelled this way.  The part is designed for 3D printing using mulitple layers of plastic sheets laminated together.  To save materials, a good approach is to model them as flat plate and fold them to form a 3-dimensional object.  The v-grooves are intended to be folding lines and the flat model is to be send for 3D printing.  I choose 0,5mm as material thickness for folding but do not know if that is sufficient or over done.

Personally I don't like to visualize the 3D world in an abstract 2D way - ends up involving a lot of uneeded calculations.

I probably would have modeled "as folded" and then unfolded for the RP model.
