Alright, I give up. I'm trying to break out a corner of this cone I'm working on to show that it's hollow and has an inner wall. Pretty simple I thought. But every time I press the breakout button I get "The view does not contain a sketch with a closed profile."

Again, it's a conical structure with a fixed wall thickness. I'm not sure what else I could use beyond the breakout button. Two pictures attached, one of the aft section and one of the detail that I'm trying to incorporate. What do you guys think?

I think you don't have a sketch in the view.

Click on the view (the view boundary should highlight).

Now, without moving your mouse, hit S on the keyboard.

Sketch closed boundary.

Exit sketch.

Now try the Breakout View.

If you can't figure it out - attach your files here.

In my experience the most common problem beginners have is that they create the sketch at the sheet level rather than at the view level.

Put your cursor over the Break Out View tool, wait a few seconds, and you see this:

Hoy, well, I can't seem to figure it out. Maybe I'm not sure how to make a closed loop profile in a part like this? I'm kind of at a loss.

I attached a simplified version of the connector here, woudl that help?

Here's your drawing with a break-out view.  You simply create a view sketch and sketch a closed profile, then create the view.  In this case, I chose to make the depth "from point", and selected the tip and a depth of 0.

I don't see a sketch in your idw.

1. Click on the view - you should see red bounding box highlighted.

2. Hit s on the keyboard.

3. Sketch rectangle. Exit sketch.

4. Save and Attach your file here.

Right, it just took me a few days to realize where the sketch needed to be -- in the idw and not the ipt. Thanks to both of you for your help!
