To bend or not to bend, That is the question!

Many times I am faced with the challenge of creating a complex part that requires the use of tools on the “Part features” toolbar and the “Sheetmetal features” toolbar. I know that if I start with a Sheetmetal part I can toggle to the Part feature toolbar and then back to Sheetmetal, but can I go the opposite way? I would like to use the Sheetmetal “Fold” tool on a non sheet metal part. Is this possible? If not, is there a way to change permanently a “Part” to a “Sheetmetal” part? (frustrated, I just want to bend the darn thing!)
    TIA Tom..

    It's our pleasure

We like to tknow that just thinking the answer we can beam it back through the internet as in
Inspiron (neutral I particle) that will come out of your monitor, strike your frontal lobe at the
correct angle to cause a brainwave to occur.

My Company Standard.ipt file is a my standard sheet metal file which is then
reverted back to a normal (I.a. non sheet metal part) and then saved as a
template. Saves having to import the Sheet Metal Styles if I ever change my
mind about a part half way through.

And it keeps the sheetmetal styles info? What a great idea.... I have struggled with the
dropdown to start new files not having the sheetmetal template. 90 + % of my files are
sheetmetal, and I had tried renaming the sheetmetal template to standard, but then
realized my iParts were being built from it also.

I will have to give you method a try .... thanks.

What do you mean "reverted back to a normal" (I.a. non sheet metal part)? Also how would you "import the Sheet Metal Styles" into a non sheet metal part file?

You can switch modes in the Application pulldown, and you can import styles using Format
    .... organizer
