Does anybody know a way of having 2 files with different filename but identical designs what automatic updates the other one?

I need the same valve design with different materials, stocknumber and partnames but I would like to make sure that both files are always updated to latest rev. Without having to remember to do it my self every time.

We are using vault so maybe this can help?

Could you consider the derive part for the other file using different file name, part number, stock number, material? When the base is updated, the derived one could be updated when loading.

Does this work both ways?

If it does this would certanly be a possibility

When the modeling updates happen in the base, the derive part will be assciative with the updates. But the iproperites and files name can be different between base and derive part.

Hi Jens,

You should look into iParts. It is a better option then derive parts, IMO.
