SW to IV translatio

I have a huge (~55Mb) assembly I need to get from SW to Inventor. Since I don't care how "smart" it is, I first tried IGES. But after it came in, there were a lot of unstitched bodies. When I tried to stitch & promote (auto stitch & promote didn't work) I got incomplete parts and surfaces. I know the SW parts are complete solids, so I'm not sure why it did this. Nest, I tried STEP. I wasn't sure of the difference, so I tried both formats (203 & 214), but SW doesn't actaully export anything. What I mean is it doesn't create a file. So now I'm trying to save as a Pro/E file, and import to Inventor that way. Any advice?

I went to their site. I saw that they have a CADporter for SW to INV, but can't find the d/l anywhere on their site. This is kind of a hurry-up job, so I don't think I can wait for them to ship me a CD. Any other ideas.

I suggest you try the step files again, something odd is going on there.
Actually the first thing you should try should be to export the assy as an
acis (*.sat) file, version 6.0.
Failing that, try a conversion company, but that may be pricey.

Have you tried the SW group? Sounds like there may be a problem on that end
(no stp written). You might also consider breaking it into smaller assemblies
if it's feasible. You may at least be able to isolate a problem area.

55 megabytes is not a huge assembly. It sounds like there is something
wrong on your end. Check for free disk space, swap file size etc.
Elysium will have trouble with the file is SolidWorks does so before
sending it Elysium, try to get a STEP file out as a test at the minimum.
You will want to try AP214 CD.

wrong on your end. Check for free disk space, swap file size etc.
Elysium will have trouble with the file is SolidWorks does so before

Acis is what I've always used from SW to MDT or Inv. But lately they
have been coming in with many errors. Trying to export an STL from them
now is unusable. It may be just a fluke, but knowing the past history
of SW,s marketing practices, it could be their latest...Probably my
paranoia.
