    Ray tracing wont work

So I've been using ray the realistic view with ray tracing enabled for a while now for quick renders, but I recently had to reinstall Windows and now it wont work. I've installed all of my drivers and everything is up to date, but when I click on ray tracing it starts to do it for a couple of seconds then just disables. After that first try whenever I click the button it simply wont enable. Any idea on how I can fix this problem?

    Hi Zcohenld,

It's hard to identify the reason for the raytracing issue, could you provide more information? such as:

    1. Your OS

    2. Your Grapich Card and other hardware information

    3. Dataset for rendering

    4. A video for the issue

My suggestion is reinstall Graphic card diver for the first step, if it make no sense, Pleae try to reinstall Inventor for further step.

Do a un-install of your graphics card drivers first before you try do the re-install.

Check your systems: Performance Information and Tools from the Control Panel. Also with Inventor open and a model open within Inventor run the hardware test and see what hardware level you get.

    Hi Zcohenld,

One more comments, please try to update the driver of your Graphic card first.

Sorry about the delay in a response.

    Running Windows 7 32bit

AMD Phenom 9850 quad core (2.5GHz)

    GTX480

Below is a video of the problem.

I tried reinstalling both Inventor and my graphics drivers. Both did not fix the problem.

You didn't give the hardware level from with Inventor.

I would guess that you may have a voltage problem with your card. These cards require additional power supply cable to be plugged into them, should something happen they will drop back to a minimum level.

Sorry, but what do you mean by the hardware level for Inventor?

And the power to my video card is fine. As I said in my first post, everything used to work, its just when I reinstalled my OS it stopped. I havent changed the wiring at all since then. Anyway, I have the video card powered not only by the PCIe but by the extra power cables as well, and my PSU can handle the full pull of the video card and processor at the same time (850watt)

The "Performance Information and Tools" is run from the Windows system: Start>Control Panel>Performance Information and Tools: give us the numbers

The Hardware Assemement level is run within Inventor. Open Inventor, open a model, the open the Tools>Options> Applications Tab>Hardware>Dianostic: it will give a Feature Level

While you are at this screen try using the different settings: Quality, Performance, Compatibilty and Software praphics
