No roaming profiles here and we're seeing the issue.

We had some suggestions from Autodesk Tech Support but unfortunately nothing fixed the problem...

    - Inventor Repair

    - Create new account and work with that account

    - Boot into Windows Diagnostic mode (with no services)

    - Change Inventor's Project "look in" folder

The latest is to do a complete uninstall and reinstall of all Autodesk products. This obviously isn't a small task and I haven't had the time yet to try it.

We've got the same problem here on most of our PCs from time to time, I've had 2 users complain about it today, and most users (10+) have experienced it at some point.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards

Could this be a 64-bit issue?  When I ran Inventor 2011 on a Windows Vista 32-bit machine, I never had any project file issues.  Recently, though, I updgraded to a machine with Windows 7 64-bit and now I have this problem.

Possibly, All our machines here are 64-bit...

It happened to me again the other day, this time I think it was some how related to running multiple instances of Inventor.. There's a few weird things that happen when you run multiple instances of inventor, if you alter settings in the first open instance they will be ignored, if you alter them in the 2nd open instance they will be remembered (assuming Inventor closes without crashing). The VBA editor is only active for the 2nd instance of Inventor, you can't debug macros in the first open instance.

Our machines are W7 64 bit and they revert back to the default project file several time in a week.

Chalk another one up for me. Same thing here, altough our project file does have references to network drives (a couple of custom libraries), though the path is in full UNC form.  It seems to happen to only a couple of users when they reboot their computer. They are both running 64 bit.

The kicker here is that one of the users had this happen to him multiple times when he had a 32 bit system as well.

You might be on to something... all of our systems are 64-bit and we experience the reverting back to default project alll just about all of them

I'm now running 6 Win7 64 bit systems running non UNC named paths with the project files local. Also have 6 on XP 64 bit, same setup. I have not seen this behavior. AIP2011 64 bit SP1. Six are network versions, 6 are not.

Do you have multiple login users on a system?

I also agree that running simultaneous instances on IV will screw this up. Windows is used to control the status of the current project, not Inventor.

Is user rights ( or user rights configuration) the culprit? I use Power user (as recommended) exclusively.
