Part representa tion in drawing... can it be a symbol?

Perhaps I'm confusing Substiute LOD's and some feature of the Punch representation?????
I need to show column locations in a Plan (overhead) view. The columns are so small that they don't show up very well. Is there an "automagic" (I'd prefer not to have to manually place some kind of sketched symbol on each columns linework) way to do a PART REP (so-called) in a drawing?
I'm using 2012 Premium.
Thanks In Advance (TIA),
John

Surely (huh, don't call you Shirley?)!
Perhaps I've though of a few reasons why this might not be possible...???
Such "substitution" in Plan view might work okay, but what about a Profile???
Anywho, the attached image show the Sketched Symbol placed on the column linework to increase it's visibility.
Thanks again,
John

In the words of Ed McMahon, "You are correct, sir. (hic)".

Well I have not found a way but this is what we do for a work around when I was doing buildings. I have a sketch that is in my master beam and in the IDW I show the sketch not the best way but a way that has worked for us.

James,
Thanks again. I've marked this as a "solution", but now am having difficulty getting the sketch to show in my drawings...
it's "visible" in the part...
What am I missing? Any suggestions?
thanks,
John

Just right click on the part in the browser show sketch. or you can change your select options to parts and pick them from the view (faster) in view left click part then right click get sketches.

That's what I thought... that's what I tried... it works SOMETIMES.
I'm in 2012. Any idea why it's not consistent?
Also, in JDMather's example he shows an "Enable" option when right-clicking on the (non-visible) sketch. In the drawing environment, a sketch in a part does not EVER appear in the history browser for me. What gives?
Thanks to all,
John
