Need help with creating a Part

Ok. Not sure how to do this. It is plastic (poly-pro), characteristics of
pipe (cylinder with a wall thickness) and has a punch thru pattern of
squares. It is a guard for our product, length differs. How do I get the
pattern of punch outs? Am I making sense?

Why not model the cylinder and use a transparent texture (like the expanded
    metal) to simulate the mesh.

Or do you need to have all of those holes as features?

Actually I do not NEED the wholes. It is for a brochure. It just needs to
look like it. I am not sure how to mesh...I will seek help in the help file
and if I can not fiqure out I'll post so.

    Thanks Sean.

Sean, enlighten me almighty texture wizard. I have looked under colors and
materials and I cannot find the expanded metal selection. I have a guard to
make where this would fit just perfect. Please elaborate.

    Thanks

    John

    John,

This is what a texture can do for you.

I will post the part and with the texture in iCF.
