    Loft with multiple openings

    Hi

I was wondering if it is possible to make a surface loft go from 1 square section to 2 round sections.

So 1 ingoing section en 2 outgoing sections.

    I've attached a simple drawing.

    Many thanks in advance!

    Nick

I think it may be possible to do two seperate lofts as surfaces, then once these surfaces exist, do a sculpt to create a solid.

Let me know if you need me to explain in more detail.

Edit: I have had a bit of an experiment with it but so far I can't seem to be able to get the sculpt to compute.  I think the surfaces need to be merged together somehow first. I have tried using 'stich' but this didn't seem to solve the problem.

    Wayne Helley,

I suggest you make the 2 lofts in solid. Then delete the 3 faces and you will get a surface.

    Something like that:

    Hi Nick,

It’s not too difficult to loft square to 2 rounds, but the transition is not really pretty,

It would look nicer if the square edges had radii if allowable.

Just keep in mind the topology of the loft.

Keep loft edges to the same edge count, (i.e. not 1 edge to 3) etc...

    Cheers

    Mark

    Thanks for the quick answers.

I found a method which gives a satisfactory result.

First I made 2 lofts, next I deleted the faces in between the lofts and finally, I patched the 2 lofts together.

I have attached a screenshot of the result.

    Thanks everyone for the replies!

If you want this to be a true sheet metal transition which could be flattened, you would have to make two halves like the attached.
