I have an assistant who will print IDW drawings for me using Inventor View. IV View will pull up the drawing without a problem and appears on the screen as it would in Inventor. When the drawing is printed, however, the font is changed and does not have the same appearance as a drawing printed from Inventor. Is this normal or is there a setting that can be modified to fix this?

Everyone at my office experiences the same thing. I will keep an eye on
this thread for possible solutions.

They need to load the AIGDT font on their computer..sometimes its not loaded when you install the viewer

I've seen this problem with several fonts (actually every one I've tried so
far). Our template uses only Arial with various sizes (.06", .08", .09",
.1", .12" etc.) This also occurs when trying to use every printer we've had
here (Canon 3300 photocopier, Konica/Minolta bizhub C351 photocopier, an HP
LaserJet 5000, an HP LaserJet 5500 and a Xerox 8830 wide format plotter)
The first time I saw this and realized the extent of it I couldn't believe
it took so long for us to discover this problem. For that reason I haven't
been forced to find a solution, if we need to send out printable file we
just use PDF or DWF.
For some reason I don't think it has to do with fonts or printer drivers, I
think it it software problem. Josh, if you get a free moment could you
confirm this problem? just open an idw with Inventor View and print it to
see what happens?
thanks,
Lon

This could be a possible cause... a while back IT removed many fonts from
all the workstations (I have no idea why).
But why would this affect an idw which uses Arial?
I'll test and see...

WHOA NELLY! Yes, with Inventor View our drawings also print different than what is seen on the screen. We use Monospac821 BT in .120in and 0.094in. With PDF's it looks beautiful, with Inventor View all the text changed font and size and looks ... um, different (not a good thing).

In a disturbing way, your response makes me feel good. Now I know that I am
not jinxed and that not everything I touch breaks. Though, I'm sorry to see
that you now have this problem too. If you do like me, you can just pretend
that there isn't a problem and you most likely won't have to deal with it.

ah yes, now I feel better. We've never really experienced this problem because we use 3rd party software that provides an adequate solution for distributing documents (i.e. Adobe Acrobat). Although, I could see that for companies not wanting to purchase extra software, the fact that Inventor View does not print what is on the screen could be a real let-down.

We have experienced the issue of not having the AIGDT font. It appeared to effect the symbols. When we print from IV View everything prints OK but the text is not the same as printed from IV.
