Is it possible to increase the quality of exported pdf's from Inventor 2012? Anything with a metalic (ie. black chrome) finish as a pdf looks terrible when compared to what is shown on screen.
Thanks

Really?? No experts on boad that know a procedure to increase the quality of pdf's created using the "export" function from Inventor 2012?
Let me clarify:
On screen part/assembly/drawing quality - Excellent
Print quality - Excellent
PDF quality - Marginal (as in bitmap / low-res)
Any Ideas?
Thanks

Maybe an example of what you are seeing would help.
I've gotten reasonable results of PDF exports (see attached)
Not nearly as good as rendered images, but decent enough to use in-house.

Hey,
Thanks for the response and suggestion. Your pdf seems to have much better clarity than any I create using the export command. See attached example "mesh.pdf" file.
Our company uses BlueBleam pdf creator for the majority of our pdfs. However, it only intergrates with AutoCAD and not Inventor. Using BlueBeam as a printer in Inventor produces worse results than exporting. See attached "mesh BB.pdf" file .
Additionally, the goal for these pdf's is to use out-of-house.

Did you try changing the vector resolution in the export options?

Did you increase the DPI resolution when using the Export to PDF (in the Options when doing the export).

Thanks for the responses. Increased the resoluion to 4800 and it did help some. It appears to be the nature of the coil spring mesh in the black chrome surface tho. Parts in other finishes look much better.
Thanks again

My company uses CutePDF writer, and it works for what we do. Whenever I print something that has a perforated or checker plate material applied to it, it comes out just fine.

We have stopped using print add-ons to create the PDFs. We've found exporting the file as a PDF produces better results than "printing" as a PDF.

Oh my, I did not realize how nice the export to PDF option is. Blueprint quality is very much improved.
I'll be using the export feature from now on - thank you!
