Hello Group,
I am working with designers that use Solidworks. I use Inventor 2012. The problem is that when sharing files for design he will export his files as .iges and when I open them, they import as surfaces and any decals/images he maps to his parts are gone. Is there a way I can import his model and keep the images he pastes on them so I don't have to re-do this? Is there a way I can export files so he can keep the decals I place on my models?
To better illustrate this, say he creates a 3d image of a Coke bottle. I want this Coke bottle in my rendering. If he sends it to me as an .iges, it imports as all surfaces and contains no colors, images, or materials, like glass, on it. I would have to add these myself to get it to look like a Coke bottle again.
Anyone with experience with this? Is there other software that will allow for this, like Adobe products, ect....

I would use STEP rather than IGES, but in any case you are out of luck with the decals.
Only thing you can do that I'm aware of is include the image file and document instructions for size and placement.
