Ok, I've installed 2013 and have worked through the "what's new" and started getting stuff ready to use when i noticed this...
From the "open" dialog there is still a "quick launch" section that lets you switch to the "create new file" dialog, but there's no way back to the "open" dialog from there. 
Is this an oversight that made it through the beta? because i find it pretty frustrating to have to click cancel and then click open, just to get back to where i was...
