How would I create threads like this

    Hi,

I'm trying to learn to use autodesk inventor pro student version by redoing stuff I've been able to find. Currently I'm trying to learn how to create this kind of thread thingy. Any ideas how to start? (this was parasolid cad file originally which I converted)

I've been trying to go around this several ways but can't seem to be able to do it.

    Thanks,

    Niko

First it would be helpful if we knew waht version of inventor you are using.

SO I am asuning you actually want to "cut" this thread.

OK see the 2 attached ipt files on is internal one is external thread, this is a imperial square cut thread but it will give you some idear of how to do this, just open it as normal and have alook.

I'll also post the IDW files for you in another mesage

Thanks! Didn't even think of using coil + circular pattern. Works like a charm! Thanks for pointing to the right direction.

If it's a single part and the threads are a standard part (listed in the Thread.xls file) and you are on IV2013, install the Thread App and use it to "cut" the threads.

It's the automated way of doing threads on a part, but using the coil-cut method (as posted) teaches you how to do.

Thanks but in this case it's far from standard so I'll need to use the coil-cut method.
