    Hello,

I have a trial verzion of Inventor 2012 and doing a little evaluation project which requires a square hole and also a round screw hole both in a radiused surface. The first, I can not find any info on a square hole and the second the screws hole in a radius the hole is placed but a recesses head hole does not come out on the side I need, it goes on the opposite side I place it in? Can you help.

    Thanks,

Square holes, I am not sure what you want here. But I have assumed it to be a square pocket(extrusion with cut option)

Hole on a curved surface can be achieved as shown in the file attached.

    Hope that help

Here are the answers to the questions as I understood them.

1-A square hole is done with a square sketch and the cut or extrude feature.

2-For your flat head screw...You need to switch to the aligned solution in the insert constraint instead of opposed. (the other of the 2 buttons right below the 2 selection arrow buttons in the place constraint dialog box.

If you have trouble figuring it out - attach what you are able to complete (even if it isn't right).

Also as you get more experience a Punch feature (even if it isn't sheet metal) might be a slick way to produce the feature.

Where is this aligned solution in the insert solution? I am new at this being on a trial program.

I meant to say where is this insert restraint?

or maybe you really meant to say Insert Constraint.

    In assembly environment.
I recommend you start by going through the Help>Tutorials

It will take far longer than 30-days to evaluate the program.

But I am trying to place a hole in a part that has a curved surface and I am not in the assembly environment. Isn't there a way to place the hole when creating the part?

    Thanks

To create a hole on a curved surface, you need to define the location of the hole start, and the direction.  There are several ways to do this, but creating a workplane perpendicular to the direction and located at your desired start point is not usually too difficult.

But for anyone to help with your particular situation, you'll have to post the file you're working on (and Inventor version) and tell us exactly what you're trying to create.
