Sorry to post this in a different topic, because unable to find the topic head in the list.

After installing Feature Recognition Enabler for inventor 2012 in x64 . Feature Recognition Enabler not popup while opening .STEP file & Pro/Engineer part file. Need help on this.

From my expeience installing the Feature Recognition Enabler for 2012 the UAC must be disabled to get a working installation.

The first time I installed the UAC was ON and the Add-In wouldn't work.  Uninstalled, turned the UAC OFF, and reinstalled.  Now the addin works great.

Which version of Feature Recognition is installed? You may need to download the updated installer which is for Autodesk Inventor 2012 software

I am Having kind of the same problem with this. I have unistalled, reinstalled many times, still no go! I have gotten our IT dept. to change my UAC, still no go. Also have talked to the other draftsman in our building and they have the same problem. Can anyone help me fix this!!! Please!!

I spent a good while today working with our IT manager to issolate the source of the issue with the feature recognition enabler not adding the feature recognition add in to the add in menu.

For us it turned out that the user had to have admin rights with UAC disabled before the enabler would function correctly and allow the user to have the add in.

For some reason this add in is written on a per user basis so even after my IT manager got it working on his account it hadn't affected my account the same way. 

Don't write off disabling the UAC. 

Interstingly enough some other add in's installed fine with the UAC on.

Good luck getting it sorted out.

Once it is working UAC can be reactivated and the user can go back to having normal rights.
