ERROR] Cannot modify the library file

Has anyone seen this message in IV6? I have migrated my library files which I made with 5.3. I can open them but am unable to modify anything. It's acting like a read only file and has locked me from any changes. I have read/write permissions to all files. Any ideas?

Library files are read-only in Inventor 6.  If
you search through this NG, you'll find this question asked and answered
numerous times and a wealth of information about it.

Thanks. Sorry for the repeat. I'm not a NG guru and didn't have the time to research through 1,080 topics. I've copied the files out of the library directory and into my project folder for modification. Works well.

Sounds like people are spending more time "problem solving" with IV6 than being "productive from day one!"

Define "productive". From day one (way back when), without official training, I was creating parts, assemblies, and drawings. Fairly productive work. I wasn't creating iParts, derriving parts, or driving animations though.

Read the Autodesk Inventor 6 File Management.doc
located in the docs directory on CD1 of the AIS CDs.

In the future you might want to try:

    It's quite fast and easy...
