Hi Curtis

This a follow up to the thread http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Autodesk-Inventor/Decals-in-Excel/td-p/3569006

I am looking to do the same.How could i do the "screen capture" and then use as a decal.Also can the decal be added to either the part or to a part in an assembly?

I made an example IV2013 pipe in which the long number in the excel 2010 sheet will run verticle on the pipe and also a square shaped number for placing in the middle of the pipe.The numbers are on a white background with a black border.How would i apply the numbers from the spreadsheet onto the parts as a DecaL

I have attached the IV2013 part and the Excel 2010 spreadsheet

Hi dane_m_steyne,

Assuming you're using Windows 7, you can employ the Snipping Tool to create image files (for both labels) from the spreadsheet. Then you can use the image files in the Decal features within Inventor.

Thanks for the tip.Yes i got the Decal on the part using Snpping tool.Could the following be applied using Decals?

At the Part level

How could i apply this to a part with the option of using a Decal as a numbering scheme.On the same part can i set up a numbering scheme using Decals.Create the first Decal as ABC-0001,create the second Decal as ABC-0002,create third Decal as ABC-0003,create fourth Decal as ABC-0004 and as high as i need to go in the numbering scheme.Then apply either a drop-down box to select which number i require or some sort of view representation.Just switch on the number i require

Maybe you might have a better option of applying Decals either at the part or assembly level for a numbering scheme.Would iLogic also work.

There are a couple of ways you could go here, but it depends largely on how (or if) the labels are shown in your bill of materials.

Do you need each printed label to have a seperate part number? Or is the label part number the same and it just gets a different number printed on it?

Are they are not required for BOM? No

Do you need each printed label to have a seperate part number? No i will use the same part but have the options to choose a particular number when required

This could be useful for me in the near future.The option to do this in the assembly level also would be a good option.

Part and assembly level option would be ideal
