Chamfer set length

I searched and found numerous topics on this issue, all of them over 3 years old, so I guess it might be worth asking again.
I'm wondering if there is any way to chamfer a set length along an edge (similar to what can be done with flanges in sheet metal mode), as opposed to the entire length of an edge.

Hi j_berry,
You might have found this link in your searches, but if not there is an example file attached there that might help:
http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Autodesk-Inventor/Ho
And here is the link from that page that seems to have changed:

You might also post your improvment idea to have an option to have it work like a sheet metal flange here:
I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis

No, due to the nature of the fillet algorithim, it would know how to deal with the start and end face on the chamfer.
You would need to create a work plane and sketch using the Extrude-Cut

Is the nature of a fillet algorithim different then a fillet? Because in a fillet it's posible. In the fillet option you can create a variable radius by placing points and change the radius to zero. Why not use this for a chamfer?

No, that topic had not come up in searches. A similar topic on that second link was exactly what I was looking for - the stopped chamfer with curved ends (Lark's tongue chamfer - http://cadsetterout.com/inventor-tutorials/ifeatur
