    Autodesk Codec Problem

I have seen a lot of posts asking about which codec to use, which codec is best. Theres always a problem with rendered avi videos not playing on other computers unless they also have the same codec and I cant have my customers and people I work with needing to download something so they can use my work, thats almost un professional to ask and always need to. Theres also the problem with avi renders being so big of files and needing to convert them into other formats so they are smaller and play on any computer without the codec needed, thats a good idea and all but programs like total video converter and any video converter arent exactly quality programs. There are good video editing programs but they arent cheap.

So Im wondering why Autodesk Inventor does not have a better way of producing quality avi files that are playable anywhere, Or some rending format like a video editing software. For instance sony vegas can render out the avi as any video format possible, why cant autodesk?

Maybe theres a better way but Im not an autodesk expert either..

Try Intel Indeo video R3.2 or Xvid MPEG-4 Codec

Thank you for the input, But the intel codecs do not give a good enough result quality wise, and the xvid does not render light shading very good. I have both already installed, I actually have a lot of different codecs, so far nothing really is a good "do all" codec for inventor :smileysad:

You can embed the video in a PDF using Acrobat so it is playable with just Adobe Reader but I doubt the quality of the converted video will be of sufficient quality for your needs?

They are to be installation videos on a website and dvd's shipped out to customers. I think we are just going to render using the techsmith codec because it looks so good and then use vegas pro to re-render in another format. This method produces some amazingly great videos, I guess I will stick with that.

Thank you anyway, I will look into the pdf thing and that would probably come in handy as a good idea for something else down the road!
