Any way to increase DPI for image output besides rendering in Studio?
When I save as image file I get option for size, of course, but no option for DPI.
Thanks,
Darwin

I get better looking images by using this technique...
1. Save an image form Inventor
2. Look at the image's resolution - right-click - properties
3. Save image from Inventor again, but his time go into the options and input a resolution of 2x what you had previously.
4. Open new image in Image Editing Software (I use Gimp - freeware) and scale down by 50%
5. Voila!
You can also apply a blur filter prior to scaling but I suggest you use a small radius (4 pixels max.). This will also help get rid of those jagged edges Inventor leaves behind on your image.
This will give you an image with much smoother lines, especially noticeable on curved edges, and much smoother gradients.

In step #3 you say to re-save in Inventor selecting a resolution 2X previous. Do you mean to select 2X the image size?
There does not seem to be an option for resolution selection.

file -> save as -> save copy as
select the image format (eg .png) and click "Options..."
type in the x and y resolution of the image.
ps computer images do not really have a "dpi" as there are no "inches" until it's printed, it's a made up term by marketting people that can't understand an image is just a collection of pixels which can be scaled to whatever size they want (thus getting their desired dpi). Stick to image resolution and we can all understand what you mean ![]()
(ie, you asked how to increase your image dpi - a correct answer would be to just reduce the image in whatever software you're using to print. e.g. a 600pixel image printed at 2 inches is 300dpi but print the exact same image at 1 inch and it's now 600dpi, so higher dpi wihtout doing anything with the image or Inventor. But I'm guessing that's not the answer you're wanting...)

I'm being asked to provide an image 1800 x1800 with 300 DPI.
I do not like the rendering results I get with Studio which does have the resolution option.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Darwin

What Sam is trying to tell you is that an image does not have a DPI. It's not an Inventor limitation, it's just the way the world is. DPI is a print setting. When you print your image, that is when you can give it a DPI. Until then, all you have is resolution. Supply them with your 1800x1800 resolution image and tell them to print it at 6"x6", that will result in their desired 300 DPI.
