if you renumber the items manually and duplicate a number it goes yellow, not sure why yours are

Stee is correct.
ITEM cells, within the ITEM column of a parts list, turn yellow anytime a
value is duplicated. It is a visual warning that two instances of the same
ITEM # exist within your parts list. This rule applies to numbers, letters,
symbols and even empty cells. The attached image submitted by Elie displays
six duplicate cells that contain no value at all and duplicate values of
ITEM # 32 & 33.

I've recently come across the same issue on my home machine.
My question is if I place two or three parts into an assembly how can they have the same item number? Would not the first part go in as item one and so on?
