    so what's the verdict? IS the large download needed? I'd love to try this
    out since I'm still on 5.3 but am afraid to 1) screw things up on my system
    and 2) waste time downloading such a big file on dial-up.

    The large download isn't needed. Best I can tell it is just a copy of DA which you already
    have. Currently it only works on R5.3 but I guess they said they plan on updating it to
    R6.

    I have word, as do others that R6 will be supported.
