I'll cut to the chase; how do you reset the illustration to the original state it is opened/imported in?

You could try the following:

1. Make sure the storyboard is set to the Timeline view. This is where the edits you made to the illustration will show up.
2. For each snapshot you want to reset, select the edits and delete them (see attached picture).
