I've read that in the .AddIn file LoadOnStartUp item is obsolete.

Does that mean that AddIns are always loaded on startup of Inventor?

No, we are planing to improve this with LoadBehavior, as described at this blog post http://modthemachine.typepad.com/my_weblog/2012/02/migrate-net-add-ins-to-registry-free.html (search on the page for LoadBehavior) and note the recomended values on the table.

Ok, thanks. But to the question:

"LoadOnStartup ignored from Inventor 2013 onwards?"

the answer is "Yes" then?

Usually when something is marked as 'Obsolete' it means that will be removed sometime in the future. If your app is being developed and will not support previous versions, I would suggest you don't use any obsolete feature. If you must, then use it carefully.

Obsolete items tend to take several versions to be depreciated or removed, but I usually re-examine the code any time a new version is planned to be upgraded to and will make appropriate changes prior to the deployment phase.
