I thought it would be useful to be able to hover over an object and have a
tooltip message to tell you what the object and layer it was on without have
to select it, and open the properties window, and then escape. (i.e. blk:
tree, layr: Landscape)

good idea.
HOWEVER, I hope they make it optional, like with a variable or something. Sometimes the tooltips can get in the way.

That's true, they can. It could have a taskbar toggle button though.
