I wish the hardware requirements weren't so extreme for what is a paint program. I have a computer that failed the minimum requirments test, but I can run photoshop and even ADT on it.

I agree.
Just why is "Pixel Shader 2" so important when more elaborate programs don't
require it?
I can run it fine at home, but my computer at work has a card just old
enough to only support Pixel Shader 1.1. At work is where I could really
use this program, but I don't see getting a new card within the next couple
of months.

It's hard to imagine this program really needing the kind of hardware required, especially when it still has trouble handling some files and a decent number of blocks with pretty good hardware. It is somewhat difficult to justify the hardware to those who sign the checks.
