Does anyone know the best viewer (shareware) to use for gis data? Our
company is contemplating whether or not to buy some software and would like
to try a few out first.

Hi Tom,
Perhaps if you were a bit more specific about what type of data you need to
view you might attract a few more replies...
Volo View Express is a free download viewer from Autodesk, that views DWG,
DWF and DXF formats. If you are viewing other file types, then a search on
the Web will probably 'throw up' some shareware viewers.
For example, I searched on "TIFF and viewer" and found a viewer called
'Swiftview', which worked OK, but had a trial timeout period of 30 days.
There were lots more - most of the others had a similar timeout.
For other data types (such as ESRI or Mapinfo) you might consider the FME
Viewer (part of the FME Suite) - available from Safe Software
(www.safe.com), which again offers a trial period.
