How is Freewheel related to the DWFx format, which I thought was going to allow the display of that new format on any Windows vista system?

If you have Microsoft Windows Vista, you do not need Autodesk Freewheel. You
can use the built-in XPS Viewer on Vista to view the DWFx files. In terms of
Freewheel supporting DWFx files, that will be included in a future update.
This way DWFx files can be viewed on Macs, Linux, cell phones, etc.

That's sort of what I thought. Now I either wait for I/S to move to Vista, or I get them to agree to get this available inside our firewall for use on the company intranet.

But can Freewheel be hosted internally, and if so, what do I need to supply I/S with?

Freewheel cannot be hosted internally. That has been a common feature
request. It is on the list. You can install an XPS Viewer on Microsoft
Windows XP. But if you were going to do that, you might as well install
Autodesk Design Review (ADR). The Microsoft XPS Viewer is only 2D. ADR does
both 3D and 2D. ADR allows for markup and measurement.

Thanks for the response. For several years we'v made the successive versions of DWF Viewer and DWG TrueView available throughout our corporation for those who don't have AutoCAD yet need to view our drawings. We're working on getting Design Review up and running as we speak.

I work on the department's intranet website and have been wanting for some time now to have AutoCAD graphics avaialble live on the page. The corporation uses a content management software that makes it difficult to do any do-it-yourself html work so moving to Vista may be what I have to wait for. There is a page format available that supposedly allows html to be put in but I don't know what the syntax would be for the code.

To see how to embed DWG TrueView in an HTML page, look at:

To see how to embed Autodesk Design Review in an HTML page, look at:
